Thinking about the new book coming out "Pagan Christianity" by Frank Viola and George Barna, and how they believe that many of the customs of the church service seem to be of pagan origin. Reading on another blog about Justin Martyr description of a church service, it made me wonder if there was anything in the Didache. There is ;)...
Chapter 14 1 "On the Lord's Day come together, break bread and hold Eucharist, after confessing your transgressions that your offering may be pure; 2 but let none who has a quarrel with his fellow join in your meeting until they be reconciled, that your sacrifice be not defiled. 3 For this is that which was spoken by the Lord, "In every place and time offer me a pure sacrifice, for I am a great king," saith the Lord, "and my name is wonderful among the heathen."
OK, that's not much. But it is saying that Christians are to get together on Sunday(Lord's Day was always a reference to Sunday) , break bread and hold Eucharist. There is some order. And if you look earlier in the Didache(chp 9 - 10), the service of the Eucharist is spelled out in detail.
